Make space in your life and help someone in need. Win-win! Here are some great options for giving your items a new home.

If your items are too worn out, consider recycling them rather than sending them to the trash.

  • Clothing and Textiles:
GemText Recycling provides donation stations in convenient locations around Portland. Drop off your clean clothing and textiles to be recycled.

  • Electronics:
Free Geek is a great local resource for recycling your unwanted electronics, and they are very careful with the safety of your data so you can rest assured. Monetary donation suggested.

Consignment stores like Village Merchants and Beanstalk (for kids), and Craigslist are great options for selling unwanted items locally. If you choose to use Craigslist, please be safe when meeting with potential buyers.

If you are a member of Facebook, you can join your local Buy Nothing group. It’s an amazing way to share and acquire items without buying a thing. Check out more about the gifting economy here.

Buy Nothing

I recommend purchasing used items (consignment or thrift stores are great!) generally, but I can suggest products to buy after our session if they will be useful, such as baskets and bins. I will suggest sustainable options first, while keeping your personal budget in mind!
